Bio

Progressed from teacher to principal to superintendent then National Education Policy Fellow, U.S. Senate.  Other positions included Senior Research Associate, National Institute of Education; Massachusetts Coordinator, Education Policy Fellowship Program, Institute for Educational Leadership; and finally President/Executive Director, Education Collaborative for Greater Boston.  Community activities include The Crossroads Community Foundation in Natick and numerous regional, state and national advisory groups and associations.

Award

National Leadership Award for Contributions to the Improvement of American Education.  Certificate of appreciation for Contributions to Massachusetts Education.

Advice to Students

Understand the importance of education in a rapidly changing society; develop a strong sense of self-worth; explore many options before making lifelong choices; have the courage to take reasonable risks;  pursue work that will provide satisfaction and enjoyment; and understand that success in the twenty-first century will require great skill, flexibility and hard work
